One of CCRU’s, and Land’s, most famous ideas is the concept of “hyperstition” in opposition to superstition. Superstition is something that happens if believed; if I am scared of passing under ladders, and I break an arm after passing under one, my superstition is that the two things are in correlation. Hyperstition is the opposite, something that will be, whether I believe in it or not. We can take space travel as an example; stories about it are as ancient as writing itself, in various forms: mythology, theatre, literature, spirituality, and so on. After thousands of years we travelled in space, but we also know that that would have been in any possible techno-oriented society. Or do we?
Nick Land’s often difficult to understand, as his syntax reflects his, conscious or not, intention to oedipalize the inherent relativism of the still socius directed anthropocentric societal structure, into a coming machinic post-human intelligence oriented elitist superstructure, only that he views them as an underlying structure of the most deterritorialized economic structure of all time.
Thus inherently Nick Land’s apparent “schizophrenic” and free-thought non dialectical system is actually the most desperate post-enlightenment oriented hegelian territorialized idealism in sci-fi dystopian/utopian ambiguous clothes.
This may seem a stretch to many, but, if considered in the actual historical driving of nihilism this is only the obvious genealogy: in times of capital crisis the identity associated with the capital’s flow is cut and so the so defined deep meta-nihilism is not only objectified, but made as whole-part oedipus ideal “nothing” in which numbers compare to each others in the mirrors of the thing/non-thing dichotomy that only upholds the all knowing universal abstract anti-human, thus completely humanist, Leibniz inspired idealism.
Nick Land’s NRx inspired elitism is just pure agostinian, fear fuelled, metaphysics that tries to suppress the subconscious schizophrenic of subcultures with its own empty filled aesthetics.
But, if the r/acc NRx movement is so inherently idealistic, how come they never converge into one accepted process? The answer to such question relies in plain and simple historical materialism, because the nothing of late-stage capitalism is there, but as the deterritorialization process advances it becomes more and more apparent-overstructured, thus debilitating the real possibility of new, as in post-post-kantian speculation, while making it seem as the old ages more and more quickly. Nick Land’s philosophy, his “dark reading” of Deleuze, everything occult and symbolic, is pure cyclical rebranding of renaissance neoplatonism and belle époque new age spiritualism. Nick Land’s proposal is for capitalism, as he is aware that he, much like capitalism, is status quo defending arboreal reproduction of past and reality dislocated ideas. In ultimate stance dark enlightenment NRx post-nihilistic nihilism Nick Land is the decline of himself and his nihilistic stance.
Thus the alt-right redpilled non ideological stance is the simplest ideological stance there can be, Nick Land is not an amphetamine fuelled avant-garde deleuzian rhizomatic thinker anymore, but only a fear mongering, elite backing, virus into the postmodern late-stage capitalistic thinking life.
The hyperstition again returns as a symbol of this, the thing has to happen as a thing. That is pure deterministic kantian empiricism, which doesn’t really correlate to the non-anthropocentric, post-human view of objects. This contradiction isn’t inherent though, as the first Land’s ideas basically didn’t show any of this, not even in their most occult and metaphysical inspired work. The shift i believe came as speculative realism grew larger and larger, as Land’s students actually went past human without recurring to the usage of perceived situations as “stationary” or “superior overcoming being”, and understanding that the relationship of humans are still part of the Social/Technological machine interconnection.
At last it seems that Land and the r/acc or e/acc movement will die alongside the dumb rich white guys that they decided were “worthy” purely by the outdated and filorandian idea of “money flows”.
